El Cuatepoztli era un yelmo de madera azteca que dependiendo del rango podría ir decorado con plumas o grabados.  Se utilizaban con fines más simbólicos que defensivos. Estaban tallados en madera y tomaban el aspecto de animales (águila, coyote,  jaguar, etc), demonios del aire (tzitzimitl) o calaveras humanas.

The Cuatepoztli was an Aztec wood helmet depending on the range could be decorated with feathers or recorded. Purposes were used more symbolic than defensive. They were carved in wood and took the appearance of animals (eagle, coyote, jaguar, etc.), air demons (tzitzimitl) or human skulls.
